Flight instructions for 2020
I just finished reading “How to Change Your Mind: What the New Science of Psychedelics Teaches Us About Consciousness, Dying, Addiction, Depression, and Transcendence” by Michael Pollan.
The book cites the “flight instructions” used by guides when facilitating psychedelic experiences in clinical trials:
“...if you see a staircase, go up it. If you see a door, open it. If you see a monster, don't run away. Just step right up to it and say, 'what are you doing in my head? What do you have to teach me?'”
Psychedelics use aside, these struck me as great instructions for living. As this is the last Mind Mint of 2019, I’ll wish us all a New Year filled with staircases to ascend, doors to open, and the kind of monsters that can teach us what we need to learn!
My best wishes for a healthy, happy, peaceful 2020.
