Bring the humanity.

Last week I came across a photo on twitter showing three health care workers – their faces almost totally obscured by masks – with pictures of themselves attached to their gowns so that patients could better connect with them as people.

You may have seen the cast of Hamilton serenading a nine-year-old girl via Zoom. Or the Atlanta Humane Society taking kittens on a field trip to the aquarium. Or the star-studded, heart-, music- and fun-filled Saturday Night Passover Seder.

The above are all great examples of how people are creating moments of shared humanity in the midst of our physical isolation. It’s these small but meaningful silver linings that help make this crisis bearable.

Here’s to hoping that even once life returns to something resembling normal, we'll keep bringing the humanity in ever greater portions.

Related: I just posted an article on Linkedin with practical suggestions for how leaders can connect more effectively – more humanly – when presenting online. I hope you’ll take a few minutes to check it out!
